Youth Trapshooting Programs

In our Illinois Youth Trapshooting Programs, under the supervision of dedicated parents and adults, we emphasize:

  • responsibility

  • respect

  • professionalism

  • good conduct

  • safety

  • excellence

  • competitiveness with good sportsmanship

Illinois State Trapshoot, a yearly event

Also, each year, the Illinois State Trapshooting Association hosts the Illinois State Trapshoot. This trapshoot draws avid and casual trapshooters from all parts of Illinois plus many other states.

Our Mission

The ISTA dedicates itself to promote trapshooting as an enjoyable sport that has a signature of good sportsmanship, conduct, and safety.

ISTA is recognized under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described under Section 501(c)(4). As this type of organization, please note, contributions to this organization are NOT a deductible charitable donation for income tax purposes.

ATA Policy Change—Important for Illinois Registered Target Throwing Clubs

The following is a policy change from ATA regarding Registered Shoots:

"ATA will no longer accept scores from registered shoots without the prior approval of the State/Provincial Secretaries. Those clubs that desire to throw registered targets will be required to seek that approval through their respective Secretary prior to throwing the targets. Approval faxed or through other electronic means is acceptable if it is received (at the ATA office) before the registered shoot occurs. State/Provincial Secretaries may fax or e-mail notification if the request from the club arrives after normal business hours."
